Deer Park Fire Road, popular with hikers, runners, and bikers.

Trail Route

From Deer Park Trailhead, look for the trail that takes you past the school. You’ll then hit Deer Park Road, a wide fire trail. Hike along the fire road for half a mile, after which you’ll see a marker for Six Points Trail to your left. Take this trail, which will lead you uphills through some redwoods to Six Points for another half a mile.

At Six Points, look carefully for the marker denoting Bald Hill Trail, which is the trail to the right. There are five trails that meet here, and there are multiple trail markers. Bald Hill Trail is 0.7 miles long, returning you to Deer Park Road. There’s one trail off of Bald Hill Trail, which leads to Five Corners; keep to the right headed towards Deer Park.

At the fire road, turn right and hike for about 0.8 miles to return to Deer Park Trailhead.

There are patches of redwoods along Six Points Trail, and also on Bald Hill Trail.

Notes

I like this trail because parking is easy and most of it is shaded. The open sections have nice views, too! The only part I don’t like too much is the fire road coming back, which is not nearly as pleasant as hiking on the narrow trails. Still, this is a decent hike in any season.
