This was around the point we assumed we were lost…

Our Trail Route

From the trailhead, we started the loop in clockwise direction. At the first marker, we went right, intending to take the Meadow Trail shortcut. But we got lost. So we stumbled up a path that looked like a trail until we climbed onto the Loop Trail. There was no marker, so probably that wasn’t a real trail. The trail was easy to follow from that point on.

We took the narrow trail to the right, a short trail with a loop at the end. There’s some uphill on David Hansen Trail. It’s an optional addition to the main loop, but worth it for the woods. Back on the main loop, we followed that back to our starting point. There are a couple of trails off it but it’s easy to stay on the main trail.

The last stretch of the main loop was open.

Notes

Next time, I’ll just do the full loop, or else try it in the other direction. The Meadow Trail where we got lost leads into a grove of redwoods, and everything seems like a path. This was a pleasant walk, though, so I’d do it again.
