Our Trail Route & Notes
We parked at the school, then followed the road around the back to the gap in the fence. The trails here are unmarked, which can make it confusing. I actually followed the trail as suggested on Alltrails. We just kept going straight on the paved path. We passed some private homes on the left, then turned right to head up the hill to Thorner Bridge.
Rather than crossing the Bridge (which takes you to Roy’s Redwoods), we took the little hiking trail marked Thorner Ridge Trail. Then it’s a pretty straightforward 0.73 miles along the ridge and down through some tree cover back to Lagunitas School Road. Then we followed that road around the school back to our starting point.
This was a very nice short hike. I brought my dog along, and the length was perfect for her—she’s not young and fit anymore. She loved Thorner Ridge Trail, which was empty except for us. The first half of the hike, on the paved paths, was pretty busy with people and dogs, though. I would definitely hike this one again.

The hike begins here, behind the school, on the other side of the fence. The unnamed trail. There are a few patches of shade. Keep straight here, though going right is just a detour that meets the trail again. Go past the houses on the left. Go right here towards Thorner Bridge. There’s one section of uphill here. Thorner Bridge connects this trail to Roy’s Redwoods, but we ignored that and took the small trail to the right. The trailhead for Thorner Ridge Trail. Thorner Ridge Trail Thorner Ridge Trail Thorner Ridge Trial Thorner Ridge Trail also has some shady patches. But it’s mostly open. The trail goes through a small wood, where the trail begins to descend. The trail zig-zags down and meets the paved road. Follow the road away from the community center and towards the school. The loop ends behind the school.
