Trail Route

Starting at the Deer Park parking lot and walking past the school, take one of the first trails to the left, going onto Deer Park Trail. After a mile, you’ll then join the Worn Spring Fire Road for a brief moment before jumping onto the narrow Buckeye Trail to the right. You’ll rejoin the wider Worn Spring Fire Road again after 0.2 miles, going right.

For about 0.1 miles, stay on Worn Spring Road, then turn right onto Yolanda Trail. Continue on Yolanda for 0.9 miles, then make another right turn onto Six Points Trail heading downhill back to Deer Park. It’s about 0.5 miles to Deer Park Fire Road, then 0.7 miles back to the parking lot.

Notes

The map I printed from the park’s website was too small to properly read for this hike. I didn’t see that we’d need to follow Worn Spring Fire Road between Deer Park Trail and Buckeye Trail. I had to open the map on Alltrails, which I hate to do because I prefer to keep up my map-reading skills! Then we got a little nervous again when we rejoined Worn Spring Road, but luckily, we happened upon a local runner who assured us we were going the right way. After that, the hike was easy to follow.

This was a decent hike, with some up-and-down and a couple of views, but it’s not the best one from Deer Park. I preferred the hike up Six Points Trail and back down via Bald Hill Trail because it was better shaded and less confusing. (See my post here.) I have many more trails to explore in this area, though, and if I find a new favorite, I’ll come back to update this!
